Throughout the year, BCMS Alliance members engage in several projects
to promote healthier lifestyles in Bexar County.
Through Be Wise Immunize, we provide vaccination education to Bexar County children.
In 2017, we received a $2,500 grant from Texas Medical Association (TMA) Foundation to provide
HPV immunization to local children in conjunction with SA Metro Health.
Through Hard Hats for Little Heads, we provide hundreds of free bicycle helmets to
Bexar County children in order to prevent traumatic brain injury.
well-deserving Bexar County college students pursuing careers in an Allied Health field
(e.g. nursing, pharmacy, optometry, physical therapy, etc.).
In 2017, we celebrated 100 years by holding a Centennial Celebration to raise scholarship funds.
In addition to these major annual philanthropies, BCMS Alliance also participates in
smaller fundraisers, collection drives, and projects. For Doctor's Day 2017, we fund raised for Project Brave.
We also partnered with Sisters in Sobriety for our Adopt at Rack Program to place free racks of
Alcoholics Anonymous literature in local doctors' offices.
Junior Volunteer Council (JVC) is a great way for teenagers to help their community while earning
volunteer hours. This group is composed of the teenage children and grandchildren
of BCMS Alliance and BCMS members.
